June 2015 Book Haul

This month, I did quite a lot of damage. I’ve been doing really well so far this summer in cutting back on my buying and from my usual 15-20 books a month, I went down to about 6-8 books in the Summer. However, this month I went a bit insane again and got 16 books. Here they all are in their towering glory:

As you can see my haul is clearly split into 2 piles and that’s because on your left (with the exception of Retail Hell), I got all these books brand new for full price and the pile on your right are all the books I got on bargain from Booksale (a thrift bookstore that sells second hand books here in the Philippines) Read on for the complete haul:

  1. We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach (Fully Booked, Php 648)
  2. Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy (Fully Booked, Php 648)
  3. The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand (Fully Booked, Php 648)
  4. Tsarina by J. Nelle Patrick (Fully Booked, Php 756)
  5. Miss Mayhem by Rachel Hawkins (Fully Booked Php 720)

In my country, there are a bunch of independent thrift bookstores but Booksale happens to be the most well known one. They sell a wide array of print materials like magazines, coffee table books, textbooks, memoirs and fiction books. I’ve been a patron of Booksale for a long time but only recently did I start perusing through their fiction section where I surprisingly discovered a lot of great books.

  1. Crank by Ellen Hopkins (Php 145)
  2. Holes by Louis Sachar (Php 125)
  3. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (Php 115)
  4. The White Queen by Philippa Gregory (Php 145)
  5. Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder (Php 115)
  6. A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly (Php 115)
  7. Prom Nights from Hell by various authors (Php 145)
  8. Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson (Php 145)
  9. Necromancing the Stone by Lish McBride (Php 135)
  10. The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly (Php 115)
  11. Thanks for the Memories by Cecilia Ahern (Php 150)

All in all, the total of my bargain books is the cost of only 2 of my new brand new hardback books.. Geez. I’ve discovered the wonders of bargain books and I’m definitely hooked. Don’t be surprised if my July Book Haul is even larger than this (I hope not though)  Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 4.00.28 PM
